Requiem for LastPass Free

LastPass has stood as the posterchild of password managers for as long as I can remember - with their generous free tier and comprehensive feature set it isn’t hard to see how, with the right marketing, that they could achieve such heights.

However, all good things inevitably come to an end and from the 16th March, LastPass Free will be permanently disfigured — when an important convenience, being able to access passwords from anywhere, is taken away from non-paying customers — as is direct support.

Free tiers with password managers have done a huge worldwide service in the persuit of password security — and in doing so, have made password managers a household concept and brought increased password security to millions.
